• Spent an hour with an ops friend catching up on how we’re building all the things. I really enjoy these twice-monthly check-ins and updates.
• One thing we talked about is how important it is to write to invite and identify. We want the right people to identify that “hey, they know me already!” There is an art to doing that authentically vs. SEO crafted word spam.
• SEO specialists that know their shit are gold though.
• Contemplated the missing piece in common “how I did it” write ups. It’s ethics. They almost never ask “who could this hurt and will I be okay with that?” It is usually the same 4-7 questions they ask and then answer. Those questions are smart but naive in regards to impact. I want to write something more formal about this later.
• Deleted at least ten drafts responding to Trump’s most racist tweet yet (at least in the top 3, its hard to say with this fucktard racist). But they all just increased my anexity instead of relieving it so I left it alone and was the better for it.
• Spent 2 hours deep diving in Notion’s Product Roadmap template to repurpose it for a project I’m on.
• Spent 2-3 more hours adjusting it based on the actual project and a starting team of 3. We’ll see how I did when I review tomorrow morning. But I’m happy with it.
• Notion and so many “no code” tools are super super finicky. Powerful, but finciky. I think the time I put in today was worth it but I’d hate to do that on a regular basis. Would I hate it more than have 6 separate tools? Probably not. I tend to hate multiple tools, especially when they are closely related.
• I started to say no to email requests. I feel good and bad about this. My time and energy and ability to give free help is extremely limited. If you already a successful business owner, we can do paid but not free. I know I used to that. Those were the days.
• I will put your money to good use in helping others.
• Took a nice evening break with family.
• Continued work on proposal for the “Fam” project. I like how this is coming together. I should have things to show by the end of the week, hopefully sooner! I can’t wait to get officially started on this.
• Spent a little quiet time shifting my mind in prep for studying “managerial accounting” this evening.
• Finished reviewing all of Accounting I, which I took a couple of months ago as part of the admissions process. This time I took all the notes, neatly organized in Notion even.
• A short whiskey soda was had in celebration of a good, long day.
• Theorized that there is a straight line from Taylor Swift’s Folklore to loving Dream Theater. I blame the whiskey because this is true only for me.
• Still have time for a bit of Overwatch before sleep time. Hooray!
